Actually, who are these jats and what do they want?

Jats belong to the agricultural group in Haryana and also to seven other northern Indian states. Probably in UP, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Consequently, now the reservation is introduced for jats in eight different cities and states. The NDA in April 2015 filed a petition in the court again against the verdict. The decision on it is still pending.

Where do these jats stand in political hierarchy?

From 1966 since it was carved out of Punjab, Haryana had 10 all together 10 ministers and among that seven were the jats. Jats all together roughly comprises of 27% and are the predominant group who always dominated a 3^rd of assembly in the state. Bhoopinder Hooda who belongs to the congress and one of national lok dal that is Abhay chautala are also jats. Whereas the former chief minister represents the Punjabi community and he belongs to the khatter caste.

But is the jats are influential should they not be very well represented in education and jobs?

If we go by the Gupta commission, almost 17.82% jats had represented class 1 and 2 jobs in government. In grades this represents up to 50% of representation. The educationalrepresentations of jats are 10.35%. And the literacy among the Jat men is 45% overall and 30% of women overall.

The primary occupation of the jats is farming. The landholding overall is average 3 acres. Jats, who are landless in only 10%.
